Road transport is very important to the Ghanaian economy. It is estimated that road transport accounts for 96% of passenger and freight traffic in Ghana and about 97% of passenger miles in the country.
Efficient transportation leads to a reduction in costs in other sectors of the economy. The relief that good transportation system brings to commuters translates into higher productivity and reduction in stress related ailments.
This is why we are committed to improving roads in the Tema Metropolis and its immediate communities. The Community 3 Beach Road Improvement Works that was launched in December last year has entered into implementation of the first phase.
The First Traffic Diversion was started on 24th January 2018 after which works started for the following:
- Detailed Design,
- Utilities diversion and protection (1st Phase) and
- Earthworks (1st Phase)
Owing to the essential location of this project, MPS is working assiduously with its key partners to ensure safety of pedestrians (through the use of appropriate road signage) and the prompt completion of the road development prior to the opening of the new port on 28th June.
