Project Manager of EIFFAGE at the Port Expansion, Jean Louis Petard indicates that the project presented a great challenge due to sheer size of 120 hectares and the sophistication associated with it.

The challenge was met head on with EIFFAGE’s many years of expertise and innovation. Local materials were chosen for this construction including the cement, sand, and pavement blocks. Averagely 50,000 pavement blocks are produced daily are produced on site while some are sourced from local suppliers.

1200 Ghanaian workers from Tema are putting their expertise to work on the project with majority of them being from Tema.

This has resulted in an increase in direct and indirect employment leading to a reduction of the unemployed skilled and semi-skilled labour force as well as a boost for the local construction industry.
