On Thursday, 14th August 2025, Meridian Port Services Ltd. (MPS) had the honour of welcoming H.E. Jacob Linulf, the newly appointed Danish Ambassador to Ghana, on his inaugural courtesy visit. The Ambassador was warmly received by Mr. Mohamed Samara, Chief Executive Officer of MPS, together with members of the company’s senior management team.

During the meeting, Mr. Samara provided an overview of MPS’s remarkable journey and achievements in the maritime industry, attributing its success to the visionary leadership of its joint venture shareholders, the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Africa Global Logistics, and APM Terminals. The CEO highlighted MPS’s role in positioning Ghana as a competitive maritime gateway and its continued investment in cutting-edge technology, operational excellence, and customer service.
The visit included a comprehensive familiarisation tour of the Terminal 3 facility, where the Ambassador and his delegation witnessed live port operations. They observed the terminal’s advanced ship-to-shore cranes, high-capacity yard equipment, fully integrated terminal operating system, and efficient customs and cargo clearance processes. The tour offered an appreciation of the scale, sophistication, and seamless coordination that underpin MPS’s day-to-day operations.
Visibly impressed, H.E. Linulf described the MPS Terminal 3 facility as: “A huge and fantastic port of excellence.”

As West Africa’s largest container terminal investment, MPS plays a critical role in driving Ghana’s economic growth while serving as a key trade artery for landlocked neighbours such as Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. In addition to strengthening Ghana’s position as a maritime gateway, MPS has established itself as a leading transhipment hub along the western coast of Africa, stretching from Douala to Dakar and beyond, enabling regional trade connectivity and supporting the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) vision.
Ambassador Linulf also commended MPS for its forward-looking initiatives in decarbonisation, renewable energy integration, and environmental stewardship. These sustainability commitments, from exploring low-emission equipment to implementing green energy solutions, align with global climate goals and resonate strongly with Denmark’s long-standing leadership in maritime innovation and green technology.
The courtesy call underscored the shared values between Ghana and Denmark in advancing sustainable, technology-driven port operations, and further reinforced MPS’s role as a benchmark for excellence in Africa’s maritime industry.
