On Thursday, 23rd January 2025, Meridian Port Services Ltd.’s Terminal 3 welcomed Ocean Network Express’ (ONE) first-ever magenta-branded vessel to dock in West Africa. The vessel, named ONE RESPONSIBILITY, is a container ship built in 2024 and she boasts a length over all of 272 meters and a capacity of 7,000 TEUs.
As the world’s sixth-largest shipping line, ONE was established in 2017 through the merger of three major shipping companies. Since then, it has created over 170 services covering more than 120 countries, facilitating global trade with a strong focus on digitization and sustainability.

Following significant investments by MPS in Terminal 3, numerous shipping lines have deployed some of their largest vessels to benefit from Tema Port’s renowned efficiency. This latest milestone further reinforces the port’s position as a key hub in the region.
In a message, the CEO of Meridian Port Services Ltd. reaffirmed the company’s dedication to delivering world-class services to all shipping lines. He stated:
“Our direction as a terminal is to continue investing in infrastructure and innovation aimed at providing seamless services to all our stakeholders. These efforts have led to shorter transit times and notable reductions in cost of doing business across the entire logistics supply chain. The route of this beautiful vessel—Colombo-Durban-Tema-Apapa-Tincan-Durban—highlights MPS Terminal 3 as the first port of call in the West African sub-region. Our goal is to establish Tema Port as the leading hub for the region.”

Richard Smith, Managing Director of ONE, expressed optimism about their operations in West Africa, emphasizing the company’s commitment to becoming a key player in the region. He remarked:
