Employees at MPS who demonstrated exceptional dedication and achievement in the first quarter of 2023 were honoured for their outstanding service. These outstanding staff members were selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of their commitment to meeting established goals and their significant contributions to the team’s success.

The selection process for the employee awards was conducted systematically to ensure fairness and objectivity. It involved the use of predetermined goals, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs), as well as a final review of overall performance during the period to determine the winners.

To acknowledge the diverse talents and roles within the organization, awards were distributed across various categories. The following employees were recognized for their exceptional performance:

Best STS Operator: Mark Dadzie

Mark consistently demonstrates a positive mindset in his work. He is a reliable and valuable team player who is highly motivated and consistently delivers outstanding results.

Best Reach Stacker/Empty Handler Operator: Emmanuel K. Mensah:

Emmanuel is a hardworking individual who has received this quarterly award four times. He is known for his efficiency in loading and his ability to manage the empty yard during congestion. Emmanuel’s reliability, accurate updates, and excellent safety record make him a deserving recipient of this recognition.

Best RTG Operator: Eric Kwesi Perbi

Mr. Eric Perbi is an industrious individual who is fully committed to his duties. He possesses extensive knowledge and operational control of the RTG. Eric’s consistent performance, focus on quality and safety, and drive for continuous improvement have earned him this award for the second time.

Best Terminal Truck Driver: Yaphter Mortey:

Mr. Yaphter Mortey from PKK is a respectful, focused, and hardworking individual. His dedication and devotion to his work are commendable, and he consistently goes above and beyond to achieve his targets. Yaphter’s exceptional motivation and reliability make him a role model for his colleagues.

Best IT/TOS Staff: Jesse Afari – Data Analyst.

Jesse has played a vital role as a Data Analyst in the TOS Team since 2021. He has developed numerous Business Intelligence solutions, reports, and dashboards that optimize operations and planning processes. Jesse’s commitment, perseverance, and expertise in building a solid architecture and data model for the organization’s BI and data warehousing solution have earned him this nomination.

Best Safety Walk Champion: Peter Mensah – Vessel Supervisor

Peter is an exceptionally hardworking supervisor who prioritizes safety among his team. His contributions to upholding safety standards before and during operations are commendable and outstanding

Best Asset Maintenance Staff: Nicholas Adamptey Tetteh – Electrical Technician

Nicholas and his team successfully revived the Stinis spreader MPS02, which was previously considered beyond repair. Through their dedication and maximum effort, they rebuilt the spreader without external support, enabling it to function flawlessly since February 2023. Nicholas’s pivotal role and unwavering dedication make him a deserving nominee for this award.

Best STS Operator: Edem Avuletey

Edem has been a consistent top performer for over a decade. He consistently exceeds performance targets and serves as a valuable team player. Edem’s self-motivation and drive for continuous improvement make him a deserving recipient of this recognition

Best QHSSE Staff: Grace Ackwonu – HSSE Assistant

Grace’s exceptional performance in managing CCTV monitoring and reporting, as well as her excellent management of access control and participation in emergency drills, led to her nomination as the best QHSSE staff for the first quarter of 2023.

In the Finance Department, Salomay Borketey and Gideon Otu were acknowledged as the Finance Stars of the quarter. Mr. Victor Kalevor, Accounting and Tax Manager, highlighted their pivotal role in the department’s effective operations. He commended their outstanding efforts, which included providing support to colleagues and consistently going above and beyond the call of duty.

To celebrate their achievements, the recipients were presented with certificates during the ceremony. The Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Curtiss Dakpogan, personally honoured the workers from the Operations Department, while the Chief Finance Officer, Mr. Thomas Bulow, recognized the Finance Staff. Mr. Bulow also encouraged all employees to strive for continuous improvement in their performance.

The consistent efforts to award staff has had a significant impact on employee morale, instilling a sense of pride and motivation among the workforce. It has also served as an inspiration for others to aim for excellence in their respective roles.
