Meridian Port Services Ltd (MPS) has received multiple Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE)  Certifications for buildings in the Tema Port Expansion Project. The buildings comprising the Administrative Building, Authorities Building and the Workshop Maintenance Building successfully passed all requirements to reach the mandatory certification level.

By this the MPS Workshop Maintenance Building becomes the first light industrial building to be EDGE certified in Africa.

MPS Terminal 2 officially opened its port operations on June 28, 2019.

Prior to construction, MPS 2 and its main partner APM, aimed to obtain EDGE certification, the only internationally recognised green building standard.

 An innovation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, EDGE certification consists of three elements: a cloud-based application, a results-based green building standard and a robust certification system.
